Donut love.

Who doesn't love a good donut with sprinkles and chocolate? I've never had the best luck at making donuts. Until now that is I recently tried joy the bakers recipe for brown butter baked donuts. And boy were they so easy all in one bowl to no mixer and letting them rise. Plus you probably have all these ingredients sitting in your pantry right now. It's really a fool proof recipe, I used my donut maker instead of a donut pan since I do not have one and they still turned out fantastic. So if you want some donuts like NOW this is the recipe for you and the frosting was so good also, I can never get the right consistency with icing so I was very pleased at this recipe. My brother ate quite a few of these and handed some to his friends and said they tasted professional like he would eat from a bakery. That was nice to hear when my brother doesn't like something or it taste off he will let me know so to hear that was nice to hear.

Life.

currently
Has been a tad crazy lately. I recently found a job! horray I feel like I had been searching forever it gets exhausting and you get down on yourself for not finding anything. So I had applied at Macy's had a interview the next day and hired that same day. The next few days followed some crazy long training hours, retain in a department store has a lot more to learn then I ever thought. But yep I am pretty excited about my new job I love that I get to dress all fancy like and feel like everyday. It's nice to be at a real "job" again, being a nanny you don't get that same feel, but I still get the joy of doing both jobs which I love. I am just so excited everyone is so so nice there it's going to be a great company to work for. It's an exciting new chapter in my life and I am pumped for it.

Today.

I am in full on prepping mode over here tomorrow is THE day of the Camas vintage street faire it flew by I got my plot placement email the other day it was so weird to see my shop name on the map. I've always wanted to do something like this as a step in something I want to be doing selling vintage, and refurbished items as well as building my own stuff. So this is all surreal I can't wrap my head around it yet. Probably wont hit me until its all over tomorrow. I will try to snap some photos through out the day. It will be quite the early morning since my helper to get the big items to the faire has work at 6 I have to be there at 5:30 so that gives me a good 3 1/2 hours until the faire opens to get my booth ready. AH I am so nervous and anxious I am glad my mom is coming along to help with the money part otherwise I think I would be all sorts of a mess running it alone. Well back to prepping.

This weekend was spent working on projects for the faire, a little mini hike with the family where we stumbled on to some treasures in the forest. Including a 1920's washing machines, pretty china plates and all sorts of cool bottles. We also hit up the farmers market for lunch and some fresh fruits and veggies.

A before and after.

Lately these days I've been getting ready for the Camas vintage street faire. I have two projects all finished and ready to go. I still have a few I am working on at the moment I will share those once they are done as well. Here is the before of a nightstand and mirror that Daisy thought she would help model. She just loves to stare at herself and has since she was a baby, she also likes to bark at herself its pretty darn cute.

After.

I loved how they turned out the nightstand wasn't exactly the shade of grey I was going for it looks more of a light blue to me. But the shade is called "pebble grey" anyway I like it and it turned out great, hopefully they will find a good home at the faire in a few weeks.

This weekend and days and weeks to follow..

forsale
Will be crunch time getting ready for the fifth annual Camas vintage street faire. It is hosted in downtown Camas, Washington its beautiful and all historic buildings just a beautiful setting for such an event. And I am so so excited to be apart of something like this. I still can't believe I will be doing this it's been a dream of mine to have my very own booth and one day thought why not right? worst they can say is no but I asked and I will have my very own booth come Saturday August 31st. I've been working on a few furniture pieces sanding and stripping the paint off and getting ready to paint. As well as going through my storage unit this weekend to dig out the stuff that will also be going into the faire.

Tonight while I was sanding some furniture pieces for a few hours I got to thinking "Why do I love doing this stuff so much?" And I thought to myself and it brought me back to my dad and how he loved doing tile. He owned his own business and did all the tile work in this gigantic houses. He would bring me and my sister along to help measure the wonder board, lay and grout the tile it was a very hard labor job and taught us how to really work for things in life. I am getting off point here but he also taught us how to be perfectionist not on purpose anyway but me and my sister are very much perfectionist I think because of him. But he loved to get down and dirty to work on things he loved most besides tile he also loved working on his trucks and anything he could get his hands on. It was a nice little moment to myself of finally figuring why I love doing this work so much its in my bones and I have my dad to thank for that. It's also a huge stress reliever and relaxing to me and something beautiful always comes out in the end. I can't wait to share the before and afters of my projects. I have to find my camera cord first I have seemed to misplaced it somewhere. I also cannot wait to share my experience of the faire here with you guys I just cannot wait, I know August will just fly by so fast just as this past year has like can you believe we only have five months left of this year?!? 0.0 I can't I don't know where the time goes. Anywhoo I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Adventures.

I love a good hiking adventure day. Two weekends ago me and my friend wanted to go hiking but we weren't in the mood to drive hours to get to a good hike. So I did some searching around and found one at Sauvies island which is about a 45 minute drive which was just perfect. The directions to find this "trail" was very confusing and we got lost on the way and had to ask where this "trail" head was located and if we passed it. We started out walking along the beach trying to find the trail that was supposed to be on the beach but we couldn't find it so walked through a bunch of berry bushes which lead to a trail. We only walked not even a mile until we turned around after been eating to death by mosquitos so we turned around disappointed about not hiking but we were still going to enjoy the walk along beautiful beach. On our way back we decided to stop at a farm we saw that had pick your own peaches on the way they were about to close so we crossed our fingers we still would be able to pick some. adventure adventure adventure adventure adventure

On our way out we saw this pretty house so naturally we got out to explore. It was so so cute and we even got to peak inside the windows it was a bummer that is wasn't furnished and I really wanted to go inside to a take a tour. But seeing into the windows and snapping a few photos would have to do, and next time I am brining my camera I bought film and everything and left it at home such a bummer.

I can't wait for another hiking adventure I love a day spent hiking in nature its my happy place.

Road to my first 5k.

training

Two weeks ago I re started the couch to 5k program. I had been running before that just tracking my runs with the nike running app. But after about a month I had become addicted to running and wanted to run faster, farther and everyday. I had thought about running a 5k before but thought to myself could I actually do this? And I thought why not? I wanted to really challenge myself and thought this would be the perfect challenge. The couch to 5k running program takes 9 weeks. I went on the search for races in Portland and I had heard of the turkey trot before and a run on thanksgiving which just so happens to be on my birthday this year (every 9 years it falls on my birthday). So what better of a present to myself then to do something good for me and that would make me feel so good and proud of myself. I have a few friends who will be joining me so this way I still get to spend time with friends on my birthday. I am going to be documenting my journey along the way here on this blog it will be exciting I cant wait to see how I will run in the race and how I will look at the end of this. Because well lets be honest it's also for some weight loss I've been trying to loose. I took a photo of me this past Saturday and I'll update every once and a while along the way.

training

I will also be doing the race for the cure again this September with my family to support and show our love for my Grandma who has been cancer free for 6 years now. We did the race for the first time last year it was a lot of fun and emotional at the same time to see all that pink gathering to show up and walk for a cure to this disease.

I can't wait to share this fun new journey on the blog.

Loving: This warm weather I love Portland summers because they get warm but not so warm and humid everyday it's always uncomfortable. And our summers start so late here and go a bit into September so they are pretty great.

Watching: The bachelorette, I just love this show I know only like what two couples maybe three are still together after all the seasons two couples have been together for a long time and have kids. But I can't help it I get sucked in every time except the last season of bachelor cause it had shawn I couldn't stand him on bachelorette so I knew I wouldn't be watching his season. My favorites out of the three left are a tie between Chris and Brooks I like them both. I felt so bad when Zak W got the boot I just wanted to give that guy a hug. And the sneak peak for the season finale look intense and they say the weirdest season finale ever. It makes it seem like she didn't choose any or non proposed I am not sure but its going to be crazy.

Eating: All the veggies and fruits. I love summer because that means farmers markets and all the fresh from the farm fruits and veggies you want for great prices. I have been eating A LOT of zucchini lately I pretty much eat it almost everyday I think. And to think I used to hate it until my room mate made spaghetti and put it in there and I was hooked ever since.

Excited about: The camas vintage street faire coming up at the end of next month. It is so crazy how fast time has flown by and summer is almost over which bums be out a little cause it went so fast BUT excited at the same time because it leads into my favorite season FALL!! I just love everything about it I wish it lasted a little bit longer though.

I am also excited about training for my first 5K that is on Thanksgiving the turkey trot which so happens to be on my birthday this year every 9 years my birthday falls on thanksgiving which is great because I love me some turkey and pumpkin pie. I've been running three days a week with the couch to 5k program I have 5 months to get ready for it and I think that is well then enough time as long as I stay diligent with it every week.

Working on: Projects for the faire I have two pieces I am giving little make overs to, to add to my booth I am so so so excited. It will be my first time doing anything like this there is still so much I need to do. I need to make some business cards which is more of an overwhelming task then I thought it would be it's so final once you make those cards you can't erase and start over after they have been printed. So I am still working on that but vista print has an amazing deal right now 250 cards for $10 AND free shipping. I was going to go with Moo but its 19.99 for 100 cards and I know Id want more then that.

I hope your all have a wonderful day. I am off to the store to get some things for my projects and food for dinner.

New york city.

Since I can remember it's always been my dream to visit the big apple but something seemed to always happen that got in the way of going. My mom just recently went for work I was supposed to tag along but wasn't able to take that many days off for work so I wasn't able to go and I was so bummed over it. She sent me pictures along her trip I would text her of places I wanted to go so I could live through her. She loved every minute of it and told me how much I would love it to. It just seems like such an exciting place always something to do at any time of the day, a million and one places to eat and gorgeous parks. So after she got back I had started planning when we could go back together she will be going back next summer again for work and this time I WILL be tagging along. But next summer feels like a lifetime away but probably would take me that much time to save up to go its a lot more expensive then I had thought it would be. Thankfully it was her work trip so she just had to pay for food and whatnot. After realizing how expensive it could be it kind of bummed me out a lot and thinking it would be an impossible trip to make. THEN my lovely friend Amber who lives in PA had the most genius idea her sister lives right outside of DC and suggested I come and visiting in October like I had last year and we could take the train into New York I was so excited especially after finding a great plane ticket deal. Sooo for my birthday present this year I might just might be getting to finally visit DC and New york I am so overly excited but I guess until that ticket has been purchased I will have my doubts cause its not set in stone just yet. I also thought I would share some photos my mom took on her trip. nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc nyc

I can't wait to have my own photos to share with everyone, October cannot come soon enough. Until then I will just keep daydreaming and planning out all the places I want to go to food, carries apartment from sex and the city etc etc. I CANNOT WAIT!
