A girls weekend.

A few weekends ago my friend Lori came in for a few days. Mainly we just ate, had lots of coffee, drinks and had a failed attempt at the beach. But it was still good to see and get some good hang out time in. Portland really has some great eats.
-This giant mason jar of goodness is from the bye and bye they have hands down the best grilled cheese.


- Broder has the most delicious breakfast and nicest staff who genuinely love their job which seems to be rare these days. There seems to always be a wait at this place but it is oh so worth it I promise you.
- Fried egg I'm in love is a new breakfast food truck in Portland in the Hawthorne neighborhood and it's a must try if you like friendly people and yummy breakfast sandwiches.
-Casa del matador has the best taco's in town and some pretty great white peach sangria. - We also made a trip down to the coast it was sunny but we didn't really check on the wind for the day it was so windy the sand was blowing everywhere and it actually quite painful. And I found out that the coast not so pet friendly with places to eat besides two I knew of in Newport so we decided to drive back home. I was pretty bummed about it, But there will be other beach trips. So we stopped at mojo coffee before our drive back up. They serve some great stumptown coffee if your ever in the area.
- City state diner also has some great eggs benedict on a biscuit and I am also obsessed with salt and straw ice cream I had the bourbon/ Coffee and it was oh so delicious and addicting.
-There may have been a trip to ikea where I wanted everything. But I was good and walked out with what I went in for which very rarely happens.
-We ended the night over at The Laurelhurst for pizza,beer and a movie.

-It was an exciting saturday night playing at the park,building furniture watching greys and drinking wine.
- Veggie grill is also another one of my favorite vegetarian/vegan restaurant's in Portland that I first tried back in LA last year. I was so happy when they opened up here so I could get my fix on a more regular basis.

I highly recommend all of these places if your ever in the area or are and just have never stopped in before.

Thrifty thursday.

This weeks thrifty thursday I have some of my favorite goodies I found at the thrift store. I wasn't planning on a thrift trip the other day but I decided to just make a quick pop in and if I didn't see anything id leave. I always make a bee line for the home goods section and as I was scanning the shelves I see a patterned casserole dish so I went over and I hit the mother load. I don't think i've gotten that much pyrex in one store trip before, it was a glorious site.



Gorgeous right? It was a rush finding that many I wanted to go to every thrift store and see if I could find more. But sadly I was on a time crunch so maybe another day.



I found these beauties while I was doing some major cleaning out of stuff to sale at a family garage sale. I just couldn't seem to part with this mixer that I got a few years ago. I can't ever seem to find the bowl or beaters.Maybe one day I will and have a working one but for now it's just a pretty piece on my table.

A little weekend project.

I have had this table for a few years now and I have always thought about painting it but just wasn't sure on a color and I didn't want to ruin it. See first it was my grandma's and then it became my dad's night stand then it was passed down to me. I also have a dresser from her and a mirror I found with the same type of wood and paint color. You can see those here in my bedroom tour. I wanted something bright and colorful, I made a little trip to fred meyer's and picked up some spray paint and got to work.

Blair's 25th birthday.

Last Saturday I celebrated my friend Blair's birthday with her and some of her girlfriends. It's funny how with age you go from "OMG I AM 21!!" and you or some just want to go and and drink at every bar you possibly can and feel like death the next day. I did that when I turned 21 and that phase lasted about a year. I think I got tired of that type of fun after a year. But as with age you have a job and the idea of staying out till the wee hours of the morning and having to work with a massive headache just sounds like the worst idea ever. When you can just go to bed at a reasonable hour and feel good the next day. So for Blair's birthday we kind of did just that. It started out low key at her place drinking wine and having snacks, I made some yummy vanilla cupcakes with strawberry buttercream. I was told they tasted like little pieces of heaven.


Also nobody told me my dry shampoo was not blended in all the way so just ignore that. Thankfully I fixed it before we went to the bar.

After that we were trying to decide how to spend the night we ended up going to a local mexican restaurant where the food is not good my mom and myself got awfully sick and i've heard others have as well from eating there BUT their drinks are good so it was settled we headed on down since it was in walking distance.


There was dancing and karaoke I did not sing almost did but maybe next time. I did in fact dance in public if you know me that NEVER happens luckily the dancing photos of me are being guarded by stephanie hopefully she does not post them on facebook. I had my usual whiskey sour it's my go to these days and theirs was so delicious.



It was a lot of fun I had a blast I hadn't planned on going out for drinks just hanging out for wine and snacks since I was going to the beach early the next day. But it sounded like so much fun. I ended up leaving around almost 2 am me and blair's friend made the creepy walk back to our cars and some guy tried picking us it I was beyond creeped out I am so glad I waited and walked back with her and not by myself. Luckily we saw one of those fire truck suv's and told him about it then he sped off we warned the other girls and everyone made it home safe. It was definitely a good night I can't believe myself and my friends that are 25 well are 25 already where does the time go I feel like I need to start living a little more because soon enough I am going to be saying "OMG I AM 30 where did life go?". I didn't really celebrate this year I was in denial of being 25 and didn't want to celebrate. So this coming birthday will be different. I was thinking lately I want to celebrate in Hawaii airfare is looking cheap these days so I am thinking that may just happen. I haven't been in two years and I would love to go back. Thanks mom in advance for the birthday present ;). What would be your perfect way to spend your birthday if you could do anything you wanted?

Beach day.

Sunny beach days are by far my favorite kinds of days. The weather said cloudy and mid 60's so I wore leggings and a long sleeve shirt cause well you just never know in oregon. Last Sunday myself and my friend Chelsea packed up my car for a beach day with our pups. I think Daisy has a new little doggy best friend it was adorable watching them play. While we were on our drive down we stopped at Dairy queen for a lunch brake since we didn't bring any snacks and probably wouldn't be eating till dinner. The doggies got to stretch their little legs and pee and we ate some not so healthy but yummy food.


After that we got back in the car put on some tunes and headed into Pacific city most people seem to go to Lincoln city but it's just so touristy now it didn't use to be but I am not a huge fan of overly crowded beaches. Plus I wanted to test Daisy on not being on a leash that way she can have more fun and not be stuck to a leash at the beach all day that's just no fun.



I was so surprised at how well she behaved off leash I was so terrified she would go wondered off and not come back and I would have to chase her up and down the beach just getting her to come back. It was the complete opposite she stayed by me and she didn't stray to far away from me and played with Lita all day they were just the cutest. The weather couldn't have been anymore perfect it was so warm people were wearing full on swim suits and playing in the water which was still cold the oregon coast ocean doesn't get warm even if its like 100 out it would still be freezing I would walk in it but that's about it. There was barely any clouds in the sky the ocean was the most beautiful shade of blue I did not want to leave a day just is not enough at the beach. It's so relaxing and inviting it makes it hard to leave, but I will be back soon very soon. About a week in a half actually my friend Lori will be coming to town for a few days and a beach trip is A MUST. I am trying to talk my nice loving brother to babysit miss Daisy for me for two days so that we can stay and visit my grandma and carl. She's allergic to doggy's so bringing Daisy is not a option as much as it makes me sad Daisy will miss it. I will be excited to get to spend some quality time with my grandma and carl. I love their little beach house and we always have the best time together. Usually go to wine tastings and watch true blood (Yep my grandma loves true blood she's pretty much the coolest grandpa ever). So yeah I plan on lots of beach times this summer, I am so glad such a beautiful place is so close to home.


I think besides playing in the water Daisy's favorite thing would definitely have to be digging in the sand she just dug and dug until half of her body was in the hole and her little butt was sticking out and she had sand all over her face. She kept sneezing cause she probably had so much sand up her little nose it was adorable.

And it really was the perfect beach day, I loved watching the pups play and have the time of their life I think Daisy really was the happiest puppy in the world that day. I am so glad I got to spend that day with Chelsea and the dogs. Many many more trips to come.
